We have a report from Satawat in Singapre about his recent trip to Maldives. I have heard Maldives are GT paradise but 6 GTs in 2 days! That to me is like a dream water.

Totos,

Small update from maldives, it’s mainly a popping trip with some jigging in between, caught total of 6 GTs during the 2 days out at sea, managed to hook up one of the gt on a slow pitch setup 🙂

The boat was drifting along the drop-off next to the atoll, the nice thing about this is you can popping for GT at the reef then you can move a few hundred metres off to jig at 80-90m.

The current was strong, the 210g gawky seems too heavy for my Poseidon 603-4, so I improvised by using 120g slow jig (can’t recall the brand) and let it drift follow with a slow-pitch, that’s how I got in contact with the GT. Also tried slow-pitch with jigging master falling jig 100g which end up with a double hook up!

Cheers,
Satawat

So you were drifting in a strong current at 80m of water. That is no way to get slow pitch game going in that situation. But you are flexible and creative enough to play with the jig in the current, probably in almost horizontal alignment, to catch a GT. That is awesome.
