Hi everyone.
I’m aware that I have so many emails to respond right now. But I’m sorry. I went out on the water today. Feeling so guilty. But the man gotta do what he’s gotta do.
Sorry guys!!! Will get back to you as soon as I can!!!

Well, a couple days ago, one of the readers from Australia came to Okinawa to try his very first slow pitch jigging with me. I really wanted him to have a good day, but it was so windy that we could not go far as we wanted to go. He couldn’t catch a fish that day. Even though he was so nice to say that he was still happy as he learned so much, I still felt bad.
Plus, I had been frustrated with my own game too. I was not happy with 4 or 5 trips I made this year. I wanted so badly to turn this around.

So the boat was Tengu.
The conditions were good. Fair wind. Fair currents. Even though it was wet. No video camera today. I wanted to focus on my game.

I started out with a couple of skipjack tuna and striped bonito here. Striped bonito has teeth. Its flesh is soft and fast to go bad. Considered lower graded than skipjack tuna and mackerel tuna.

But not a bad start.
The depth was about 120m to 150m through out the day.
They were caught with Rector 270g, Silver / Pearl Zebra Glow, with Slow Jerker 603-6 and Ocea Jigger 2000NR-HG.

And here it is!
Amberjack, Almaco Jack to be precise, with the same Rector 270g.

At this point, I was beginning to feel that this is the jig of the day.

The Rector 270g is on fire!

I kept hitting with the same jig. I tried some different jigs, but I found myself putting my faith in Rector today.

Busy, busy, busy…

At one point, I looked at the sounder and thought of Gawky somehow.
Look what I got. A double!!!

But on this run, every 5 other anglers got amberjack. I was the only one with these brave little brothers, which were probably what those amberjacks were after.
I was not wrong with selecting Gawky. I got the fish. But I had mixed feelings… lol

Back to Rector. 240g this time, Heat Color Tail Glow, with 603-6.
I would not change jigs anymore.

Oh boy… I caught so many fish today. Not a big one, but I am so happy that I have shaken off my bad luck. It was not the kind of day that fish is so active and everyone catches many fish.
I caught the most on the boat, we call it “Top Rod”, and I was able to regain a little confidence that this can still happen to me.

Sorry Nam. This was the kind of day that I wanted you to have. Please come back next year!
